Artist's Rendering of Forest Home Plantation

This sketch of the garden layout at Forest Home Plantation, just west of Decatur in Trinity, Morgan County, is based on the remembrance of a daughter of Absalom L. and Ann Fennel Davis, the latter of whom designed the garden patterned after those in Virginia. Constructed in the late 1850s, the house was a two-story rectangular structure with a gabled roof and chimneys at either end and the center of a 300-acre plantation that primarily cultivated cotton. Unoccupied for years, it was nominated for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It burned down in 1991.
