Pelham Grave Site

Confederate war hero John Pelham was mortally wounded at the Battle of Kelly's Ford in Virginia in March 1863 during the Civil War. He died on March 17 and lay in state for several days in the Confederate capital at Richmond, Virginia, and then was buried in Jacksonville City Cemetery in Jacksonville, Calhoun County. The statue in this image was erected by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1905.
