Rufus W. Cobb (1829-1913) was the 25th governor of Alabama (1878-1882). A BourbonDemocrat, he supported the interests of railroad and mining companies and approved funding for the founding of Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute (now Tuskegee University). Before his governorship, Cobb served as a state legislator.
