Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge
Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge borders both sides of the Tennessee River for a 20-mile stretch in northwestern Alabama. Established in 1938 by Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt, it is the oldest national wildlife refuge in the state and a popular place for birders.
