Annie Walker Armstrong (1850-1938) was the first executive director of the Woman's Missionary Union, establishing the organization's first headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland. Armstrong pushed for missionary expansion and education, along with conservatism and traditional practices in the organization. One of the union's two main yearly offerings is named in her honor.
