Old St. Stephens

University of South Alabama archaeologist George Shorter oversaw work at the site of the Globe Hotel in Old St. Stephens, which was Alabama's territorial capitol in the early 1800s. A Choctaw trading post was founded at St. Stephens in 1803, and the Choctaw Agency was established in 1805.
