Shown here in the early 1960s, the Riverside Hotel in Mentone, DeKalb County, was built in 1905. It was one of many resorts in the area, built to house the many visitors seeking the clear mountain air of north Alabama as well as the local mineral springs, believed to have healing properties. The hotel is now part of Camp Skyline, a residential summer camp for girls.
