Safe House Black History Museum

The Safe House Black History Museum in Greensboro, Hale County, preserves a home where civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. sought refuge from Klansmen on the night of March 28, 1968. In 2009, local beautician and civil rights activist Theresa Burroughs opened the family property as a museum, which operates as a nonprofit and displays photographs, artifacts, and other items related to the civil rights movement of the 1960s.
