Echota Heritage Site

Members of the Echota Cherokee Tribe of Alabama listen as Mike Roden, a coordinator with the federal Natural Resources Conservation Service talks about efforts to preserve and interpret Cherokee heritage in north Alabama. The tribe, working with the agency, developed interpretive trails in the area and reassembled a traditional nineteenth-century log cabin, donated by a local family, next to the Echota tribal office in 2006 in the unincorporated community of Lacon in Morgan County.
