Gulf State Park Cabin

Accommodations at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores include cabins overlooking Lake Shelby. The lake is freshwater but often is invaded by saltwater from nearby marshes. Thus, it is home to a variety of both freshwater and saltwater fish and popular with anglers. Archaeologists from the University of South Alabama have found evidence of prehistoric human occupation on its shores dating to the Middle Woodland period some 3,000 years ago.
