Red-bellied Woodpecker

The red-bellied woodpecker is found throughout eastern woodlands in North America. In Alabama, they are common in forested areas but are often seen in parks and suburban areas and enjoy backyard suet feeders. Although it does have a red patch on its belly, the red cap on its head is much more visible.
