Alexander McKinstry

Republican Alexander McKinstry (1822-1879) was Alabama's third lieutenant governor, serving from 1872 to 1874 under Gov. David P. Lewis during Reconstruction. Raised in Mobile, Mobile County, he was a colonel with the 32nd Regiment Alabama Infantry during the Civil War and later served as a justice on the United States Supreme Court.
