Architect Robert R. Taylor (1868-1942) was the first African American graduate of the world-renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Taylor is known as the architect of Tuskegee Institute (present-day Tuskegee University) for his work designing buildings on the campus and for his many years as a teacher of industrial drawing.
