Map of Manack Store

Manack’s Store, shown here as a black dot at leftcenter on this map from 1831, was an inn located on the Old Federal Road near present-day Pintlala, Montgomery County. The proprietor, Sam Moniac (sometimes spelled Manac or Manack), was a Dutch immigrant who married Elizabeth Weatherford, a Creek woman from an important family. The couple were the parents of David Moniac, one of the first American Indians to graduate from the United States Military Academy.
