Natchez Trace in Alabama

The Natchez Trace was a route through what is now Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee that was used by humans and migrating animals for thousands of years prior to European settlement of the region. It became known by its popular name in the late eighteenth century and today is part of a federal parkway that runs through Colbert and Lauderdale Counties in northwestern Alabama, shown here.
