Dixie Bibb Graves Swearing In

Dixie Bibb Graves being sworn into the U.S. Senate by Vice President John Nance Garner. Dixie Graves was appointed by her husband, Gov. Bibb Graves, to fill the vacancy left when Hugo Black resigned to serve on the Supreme Court. She served from August 1937 to January 1938.
