Shipping Receipt

In addition to passengers, steamboats carried a wide variety of goods between ports in Alabama and beyond. This shipping receipt from July 1842 details goods, including boxes of tea and bottles of brandy, purchased from merchants J. K. Randall and Company of Mobile for shipment to Montgomery. It was signed by the ship's purser attesting to the arrival of the items on the steamship, the Oriole, in good order.
