Alabama Conference Female College

The Alabama Conference Female College (now Huntingdon College) was founded as Tuskegee Female College in 1854 in Tuskegee. This photo of the staff posing in front of the main school building was taken in 1890. The school relocated to Montgomery, a city that would be able to provide more financial support and more students, in 1909. The college admitted the first male student in 1934 and took its current name the following year.
