Alabama Dry Dock & Shipbuilding Company

The Alabama Dry Dock and Shipbuilding Company (ADDSCO) was founded in 1916 in Mobile and manufactured warships for the U.S. Navy during World War I and World War II. The company was often the city's largest employer and contributed to urban development with the construction of the Bankhead and Wallace tunnels, named for politicians John Hollis Bankhead and George C. Wallace.
