Pierre G. T. Beauregard

Pierre Gustave Toutant-Beauregard, often known at G. T. Beauregard, was a prominent general in the Confederate Army who commanded military operations at Charleston, S.C., during the Civil War. He was instrumental in the development of the submersible H. L. Hunley, which was the first submarine to sink an enemy ship in combat.
