The Old Winston County Jail, also known as the Houston Jail, after the community in which it was built. Houston served as the seat of Winston County from 1858 to 1883, when it was moved to Double Springs. It is the only log-construction jail in the state and was built around 1868. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
