Construction of Lay Dam
Construction of Lay Dam
Lay Dam
is located on the Coosa River between
Chilton
and
Coosa
Counties. The original construction took place between 1910 and 1914 (pictured), and the structure was redeveloped in 1967. The dam created Lay Lake, a 12,000-acre reservoir.
