Eufaula Bridge

Horace King, John Godwin, and Simon H. Williams built a covered bridge spanning the Chattahoochee River near Irwinton (now Eufaula,) on the border of Alabama, and Georgia in the late 1830s. At the time of this image, the original bridge had been destroyed, and the only remaining portions installed by King were the foundations of the piers.
