The watershed of the Mobile-Tensaw delta encompasses more than 40,000 square miles and drains more than two-thirds of Alabama, as well as sections of Tennessee, Georgia, and Mississippi. The Mobile-Tensaw Delta itself occupies about 300 square miles in an area immediately north of Mobile Bay.
