Montgomery Interpretive Center

The Montgomery Interpretive Center sits on the campus of Alabama State University in Montgomery, Montgomery County. Opened in spring 2020, it is overseen by the National Park Service (NPS) and is the third and final such center commemorating the 1965 Selma to Montgomery marches prompted by the death of civil rights activist Jimmy Lee Jackson and advocating for African American voting rights. The two other centers are the Selma Interpretive Center in Selma, Dallas County, at the foot of the Edmund Pettus Bridge and the Lowndes Interpretive Center in Lowndes County on U.S. Highway 80 West. Just east of this center is the memorial for activist Viola Gregg Liuzzo.
