Robert E. Chambliss

In this March 6, 1957, photo Robert E. Chambliss (center) and two unnamed men block the door to Birmingham‘s Terminal Station in an attempt to prevent civil rights activist Fred Shuttlesworth and others from desegregating the train station. Chambliss was later found to be one of the terrorists who bombed the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in 1963. He was convicted in 1977 and died in prison in 1985.
