Alma Montgomery Blackmon (1922-2009) directed the Aeolians, the Oakwood University choir, for 12 years until her retirement in 1985. Blackmon was born in Washington, D.C., and worked as an educator there for 30 years before accepting a position with the English faculty at Oakwood Huntsville, Madison County; she soon was transferred to the Music Department and revived the choir, which had been disbanded several years earlier.
