The Kimbell House, in Jackson, Clarke County, was built by Isham Kimbell, the sole member of the Kimbell family to survive the so-called Kimbell-James Massacre associated with the Battle of Fort Sinquefield, which took place on September 2, 1813, and was part of the larger Creek War of 1813-14. The home was constructed in 1848 on Lower Commerce Street in Jackson and moved to its current site on Mayton Drive in 1977, after the owners at the time donated it to the city of Jackson. It is now an event facility operated by the city.
