John Hunt Morgan Memorial

The John Hunt Morgan Memorial was erected by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1911 in Lexington History Museum in Lexington, Kentucky. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997 and was moved to Lexington Cemetery near Morgan's burial site in 2018. Cast in bronze in Brooklyn, New York, from a design by Pompeo Coppini, the statue depicts Morgan, a Confederate general, astride a stallion, although his horse, Black Bess, was a mare.
